Marriage

its been a tough few weeks,
probably the hardest for me yet.
but i don't wanna talk about that,
i wanna discuss something that recently has been on many
LDS peoples minds...
Perserving Traditional Marriage and Strengthening Families
there is so much i wanna say.
CLEARLY
the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints
stands for marriage between man and woman.
we always have but now it is asked that we actually stand up and say something.
for some this is a COMPLETE test of faith.
just sitting here writing this i am struggling with the right words in fear of hurting someone.
BUT we have to know and stand for the truth that marriage is between a man and a woman.
there are ones we love who we want happiness for but we
CANNOT
support them.
why?
why dont some people ever get the chance to be married?
why do some people have disabilities?
why are some people unable to bear children?
why does it have to hurt so much to have to say goodbye to someone?
why do people have to die?
why do good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people?
we may NEVER understand why it is that some people are attacted to someone of the same sex.
or
why it is that we have to even say anything and fight against something that we may not want to fight against because we dont want to hurt anyone.
but we do know that God has a plan.
we do know that the gospel was restored by a man named Joseph Smith.
modern day revelation exist,
a modern day Prophet exist
if you are struggling with this i suggest you get on your knees and
BEG
beg for a better understanding.
BEG
beg for a way to fight with love.
BEG
beg for faith.

Your sentiments were very well said. I'd also add that we must all get on our knees and beg for compassion and faith too. We must do all we can to help our family members, or friends, that struggle with same sex attraction. Maintaining loving and healthy family/ friend relationships with them does not mean that we support or condone the choices they may make. Unconditional love and kindness on our part will ensure that we don't come off as being judgmental, but rather are striving to follow the Savior's example in all things. ~L
